2023 Hartford Court Sevens Bench Vineyard Pinot Noir

95 Points

"The 2023 Pinot Noir Sevens Bench Vineyard from Carneros is a jeweled ruby color and takes on notes of dark wild black raspberries, mossy earth, and fresh violets as well as savory but fresh hints of porcini. Medium-bodied, it has more richness, with ripe tannins and a savory, snappy, iron-rich feel that closes it out and accents the finish. It has a deeper feel but remains refreshing and is going to drink well over the coming 15 years. " - Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, July 2025

2023 Hartford Court Sevens Bench Vineyard Chardonnay

94 Points

The 2023 Chardonnay Sevens Bench Vineyard, from Carneros, kicks off with a flicker of struck-match reduction before settling deeply into the palate with a complex array of orange curd, walnut oil, ripe golden apple and chamomile tea. The acidity is nearly buried by the textural heft, and yet the wine keeps marching ahead slowly and intentionally, never once feeling weighed-down. Ultimately, the 2023 is on the understated side aromatically, built more on textural intrigue and internal balance than anything else. It's a style I find wildly attractive. —Billy Norris, Antonio Galloni's Vinous, January, 2026

2021 Hartford Court Sevens Bench Vineyard Chardonnay

94 Points

"A more opulent style with a richer golden hue, the 2021 Chardonnay Sevens Bench Vineyard takes on more tropical ripe fruits in its notes of golden pineapple, baking spice, and orange zest. Full-bodied, with a rich yet clean, viscous texture, ripe peach, honeysuckle, and citrus oil, it’s long on the palate and has nice balance. Drink it now or over the next 6-8 years."- Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, July 2023

Intensive farming and low yields are the foundations of our Carneros AVA Seven’s Bench Single Vineyard. The vineyard is on a ridge at a 200-foot elevation, part of an uplifted riverbed that allows good drainage in the traditional clay-based soils of the region. The name Sevens Bench is derived from the two clones originally planted on our block: Clones 37 (Mount Eden) and Dijon 777.
