"The 2018 Pinot Noir Hailey's Block comes from a cooler section of the Russian River Valley (it comes from a small block in the Arrendell Vineyard) and it shows, with the wine offering a darker, more herbal, sappy style in its black cherry and mulberry fruits as well as candied violet, spice, and spring flower-like aromas and flavors. As with all these 2018s from Hartford Court, the palate is spot on, and it has incredible purity of fruit, flawless tannins, and a great, great finish.." Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com, July 2021
Wines From This Vineyard
"The 2019 Pinot Noir Hailey's Block comes from a specific block in the Arrendell Vineyard in the Green Valley district of the Russian River Valley, with 25-year-old vines planted in silty soils. It has a medium ruby-purple color and a plethora of crushed raspberries, blueberries, cranberries and strawberries, plus touches of pepper, lilac and savory herbs. The medium-bodied palate explodes with hedonistic berry fruits, gliding across the palate with a silky texture and bursts of fresh acidity that call you in again and again for another sip on the long finish. " - Erin Brooks, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, July 2022
Hailey's Block Pinot Noir is located within the prestigious Arrendell Vineyard and is named after founders Don & Jenny Hartford's daughter Hailey. The block was planted over 20 years ago to Dijon clones 114 and 777 at a time when Hailey was just six years old. Over time, we have watched both Hailey and her namesake Pinot Noir mature into personalities of great strength, beauty and charm.
Arrendell Vineyard and Hailey’s Block sits in arguably the coldest spot in the Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley AVA. The cold meso-climate that results from cool air settling in the low-lying vineyard preserves natural acidity in the grapes and helps preserve the purity and expression of the unique terroir in this beautiful Pinot Noir.
