2017 Hartford Court Radian Vineyard Chardonnay

94 Points -

"A new wine from this vintage coming from a vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills, the 2017 Chardonnay Radian Vineyard reveals an alluring nose of honey-drizzled peaches, baked apricots, honeydew melon, and warm pineapples with touches of brioche, toasted almonds, and nutmeg. Full-bodied and rich, with a gorgeous oiliness to the texture, it has a racy backbone giving lift to all that decadent fruit, finishing long and toasty." – Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, Feb. 2020

2017 Hartford Court Radian Chardonnay

Tasting Notes

The wine opens with a beautiful aroma of white flowers that is complemented by hints of lemon oil and salty ocean air. The combination of cool climate and poor soils lead to a mouthfeel that consists of a complex, layered texture and lively acidity.

Vineyard & Vintage Character

The Sta. Rita Hills is situated in a transverse range, meaning the mountains lie east-west and not north to south, like most mountain ranges on the Pacific Coast. Cold ocean winds and fog therefore easily travel into the valley and cools it down considerably. 2017 is our first vintage of the Radian Vineyard Chardonnay. The vineyard is situated on the western edge of this unique AVA, on a dramatic, steep slope. Soils in the area are very poor, with elevated calcium levels due to an
an abundance of ancient sea creature fossils.
