2015 Hartford Dina's Vineyard Zinfandel
94 Points -
"A real whopper is the 2015 Zinfandel Dina's Vineyard, which comes from vines planted over 100 years ago... There is a touch of Alicante in the blend of Zinfandel. Notes of pen ink, graphite, licorice, creosote, lavender and pepper along with enormous quantities of blackberry and black cherry fruit soar from the glass of this thick, viscous, heavy-duty, pedal-to-the-metal Zinfandel. It is a Mediterranean-tasting wine that could pass for a Southern Rhone from France in a blind tasting. This wine should drink nicely for 8-10 years, if not longer." - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, October 2016
The 2015 Dina’s Vineyard Zinfandel shows deep, dark color along with highly focused ripe blackberry, floral and anise aromas that transition into cocoa, blackberry and blueberry flavors. The big, dense, tannin structure of the wine is balanced by the high fruit intensity and bright acidity making it a wine that shows well today and will age and improve for years to come.
Vineyard & Vintage Character
Dina's Vineyard was planted by the Arata family more than 100 years ago. Today, only about ten acres of gnarled, dry-farmed vines remain at the original Arata homesite. The vines, predominantly head-trained, are planted on the typical eight-by-eight spacing, originally intended to allow horses to cultivate between the vines in both directions of the vineyard planting. A deep, dark color and dense, broad texture are all typical indicators of Dina's Vineyard terroir.
