Fog Dance

Our Fog Dance Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are from our organically farmed, estate-owned Pinot Noir vineyard on the rolling hills located just to the east of Green Valley Creek in the Russian River Valley. This gorgeous Pinot Noir vineyard was planted in 1996 upon Goldridge fine sandy loam soils to several Dijon clones: 667, 777 and 115.  The stunningly beautiful Chardonnay vineyard was planted in 1998 using Dijon Chardonnay Clone 96 and ENTAV 809.

The Fog Dance Vineyard is thus called because of the dance performed by the Pacific fog, drifting through the vineyards and back again to the sea each day.

"The 2014 Fog Dance Vineyard Chardonnay is from a hillside vineyard in the very cool-climate Green Valley, not far from the little “hippie” town of Forestville. Aged in 38% new French oak, the wine offers a light gold color with a greenish hue, hints of tangerine oil, pineapple, white peach and citrus. This is rich, full-bodied and stunningly proportioned, and much like all the other Chardonnays, the oak is very subtle and nuanced. This is another tour de force in Chardonnay winemaking from winemaker Jeff Stewart." - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, October 2015

"The 2014 Pinot Noir Fog Dance Vineyard comes from Dijon clones 115,667 and 777 grown in a another cold, windy area in the Green Valley, south of the old hippie town of Forestville.  Soft, spicy, tart red cherries in addition to some plum, Asian spice, and forest floor are all present in this luscious, sexy, complex wine that offers up loads of fragrance, medium to full body and a heady finish.  Drink it over the next 7-10 years." - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, October 2016

"There are 304 cases of the 2013 Chardonnay Fog Dance Vineyard, another Green Valley hillside site just south of the town of Forestville. One-hundred percent barrel-fermented and aged in 29% new French oak, this superb Chardonnay exhibits notes of apple blossoms, lemon oil, white currants, quince and hints of tangerines and orange marmalade. The vintage’s sensational acidity and delineation come through in this full-bodied, super-concentrated 2013." - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, October 2015

"Vivid yellow. Zesty lemon and green apple aromas are complemented by notes of iodine, sweet butter and anise. Taut and linear on the palate, displaying intense, mineral-accented citrus zest and floral qualities. The mineral element repeats strongly on the pure, focused finish." - Stephen Tanzer,  International Wine Cellar, May/June 2012
