Hailey's Block Pinot Noir is located within the prestigious Arrendell Vineyard and is named after founders Don & Jenny Hartford's daughter Hailey. The block was planted over 20 years ago to Dijon clones 114 and 777 at a time when Hailey was just six years old. Over time, we have watched both Hailey and her namesake Pinot Noir mature into personalities of great strength, beauty and charm.
Arrendell Vineyard and Hailey’s Block sits in arguably the coldest spot in the Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley AVA. The cold meso-climate that results from cool air settling in the low-lying vineyard preserves natural acidity in the grapes and helps preserve the purity and expression of the unique terroir in this beautiful Pinot Noir.
Wines From This Vineyard
"The 2013 Pinot Noir Hailey’s Block, which comes from a cool hillside vineyard in Green Valley, was aged in 28% new French oak. This is a more structured, tighter-coiled and earthy style of Pinot Noir meant for aging. It is elegant. Pomegranate, plum and black cherry notes jump from the glass along with underbrush and spice box. It is medium-bodied and pure, with the grip of tannins present in the finish. This should be given another year or so of bottle age and drunk over the following decade."
