2013 Hartford Dina's Vineyard Zinfandel

94 Points -

"The 2013 Zinfandel Dina's Vineyard emerges from a parcel of 100 year-old head-trained vines next to Highwire. Savory herbs, flowers and distinctly red-toned fruits open up in a precise, chiseled Zinfandel long on personality. A dollop of Carignan in this parcel seems to add brightness and nuance. Polished and silky through to the finish, the 2013 Dina's is one of many highlights in this exceptional range from Hartford Court."

Tasting Notes

The 2013 Dina's Vineyard Zinfandel shows deep, dark color along with highly focused ripe blackberry, floral and anise aromas that transition into cocoa, blackberry and blueberry flavors. The big, dense, tannin structure of the wine is balanced by the high fruit intensity and bright acidity making it a wine that shows well today and will age and improve for years to come.

Vineyard & Vintage Character

Dina's Vineyard was planted by the Arata family more than 100 years ago. Today, only about ten acres of gnarled, dry-farmed vines remain at the original Arata homesite. The vines, predominantly head-trained, are planted on the typical eight-by-eight spacing, originally intended to allow horses to cultivate between the vines in both directions of the vineyard planting. A deep, dark color and dense, broad texture are all typical indicators of Dina's Vineyard terroir.
