Chardonnay

Chardonnay

92-94 Points, Robert Parker, December 2014
From the Sonoma Coast, the 2013 Chardonnay Far Coast Vineyard (396 cases) emerges from a mountain ridge north of Fort Ross. This cuvée sees about 35% new French oak, and the 2013 clearly shows the tropical fruit side of Chardonnay with lots of pineapple, mango and candied tangerine-like notes. Full-bodied with fabulous fruit intensity as well as purity, super focus, and an underlying liquid minerality that gives it an extra-special character, it should drink well for 10 years.

91-93 Points - "Jennifer's Pineapple, mint, butter, orange blossom and wild flowers are some of the signatures in the 2013 Jennifer's Chardonnay. This silky, perfumed Chardonnay should drink well for a number of years. The Jennifer's is one of the more overt, racy wines in this range, with flavors that tend towards the more tropical end of the spectrum, which is quite unusual considering the cool micro-climate in this part of the Petaluma Gap."

92-94 Points - "The 2013 Seascape Vineyard Chardonnay is quite a bit richer and oilier than the Jennifer's. Mango, pineapple, spices, butter and French oak blossom in a wine that captures a striking interplay of intense fruit allied to bright, piercing acidity. This is another impeccable, absolutely beautiful Chardonnay from Hartford Court."

True to its Carneros roots, the 2013 Sevens Bench Chardonnay carries the hallmark of the region – fruit intensity balanced by good acidity. The aromas are driven by classic lemon drop, Meyer lemon and a sweet tangerine character. That fruit style follows in the flavors, with the citrus focus carrying through with candied lemon drop balanced by the nice acidity and mineral characters inherent to the region and the clonal selections. Barrel fermentation characters are in the background, adding more complexity to this elegant wine.

95 Points- "The 2013 Chardonnay Stone Cote Vineyard is fashioned from a specific block of vines that Don Hartford farms in the well-known Durell Vineyard. Fermented with indigenous yeast, it exhibits lots of white peach, orange blossom, pear and honeysuckle notes in its medium to full-bodied, gorgeously textured personality. With terrific acidity as well as focus, it should drink well for 10+ years."

95-97 Points - "The 2012 Chardonnay Far Coast Vineyard comes from a site located on a mountain ridge north of Fort Ross. It was fermented with indigenous yeasts, and bottled unfined and unfiltered after spending 15 months in one-third new oak. A blockbuster Chardonnay, it boasts intense aromas of mangoes, Mandarin oranges, pineapples and wet rocks along with noticeable minerality, full body, and stunning purity as well as symmetry. Enjoy it over the next 5-7 years."

92-94 Points - "The 2012 Chardonnay Fog Dance Vineyard is from a hillside location in Green Valley that experiences the frequent fogs that roll intothe ocean. It exhibits abundant notes of Mandarin oranges and citrus oil intermixed with a hint of smoke (one-third new French oak is utilized), and a full-bodied, rich, crisp, layered mouthfeel with great elegance as well as purity."
