2022 Hartford Court Seascape Vineyard Chardonnay

98 Points -

"The 2022 Seascape Vineyard Chardonnay needs a fair bit of swirling to unlock notes of lemon tart, guava, and key lime pie leading to hints of brine, fresh ginger, and yuzu zest. The medium to full-bodied palate is electric, featuring intense citrus and mineral layers with a silky texture, finishing with epic length. This should age amazingly!...Seascape Vineyard is located on a 1,000-foot-high panoramic ridgetop west of the town of Occidental, overlooking Bodega Bay and the Pacific Ocean. It was planted to the Spring Mountain Chardonnay clonal selection in the mid-1980s.." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent, April 2024

Vineyard & Vintage Character

Seascape Vineyard is a six-acre site on a scenic ridgetop, located west of the town of Occidental, in the Sonoma Coast AVA. The vineyard abuts an old redwood grove and looks down upon Bodega Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The well-known Coastlands Vineyard also borders the property. Because there is no ridge between the ocean and the vineyard, Seascape is in an extremely cold spot, and Chardonnay is often picked in November - unusual to say the least. The vineyard is cropped to about two tons per acre to ensure thorough ripening. Although a challenging spot to farm, the reward at Seascape is Chardonnay grapes brimming with personality and a very distinctive terroir.
