2005 Zinfandel
Russian River Valley
Tasting Notes
This is the sixth vintage of our wildly popular Russian River Valley AVA Zinfandel. This old-vine Zinfandel provides alluring aromas of blackberry, sweet pipe tobacco, black pepper and anise, complemented by flavors reminiscent of fresh-baked blackberry pie with allspice, anise and caramel notes on the finish. Stunningly rich and concentrated, our
2005 Russian River Valley Zinfandel has incredible definition of fruit and sweet luscious tannins. To preserve exotic spice and sweet berry flavors, we use the same gentle handling techniques for making Zinfandel that we use with Pinot Noir.
Acclaim
92 Points/California's Best of 2007 - "Classic varietal scents of sweet berry and cherry. Pretty flavor profile that showcases juicy cherry and cedar sawdust with a nice focus of backing acidity and spice. Tangy on the finish with soft, jammy notes, sweet nuances and balanced tannins." - Wine News, November/December 2007

Vineyard Character
The Hartford Russian River Valley Zinfandel is a blend of old-vine, dry-farmed and low-yielding Zinfandel vineyards
from the Russian River Valley. These old vineyards, with an average vineyard age of about 75 years, offer an impressive
articulation of this idiosyncratic varietal. Bright, natural acidity and vibrant fruit aromas and flavors are the result of
typically cool, fog-laden nights and warm days. These dry-farmed vineyards, planted on low-fertility soils, consistently
produce wines of exceptional density and legendary extraction – and the 2005 Hartford Russian River Valley Zinfandel
is a wine with remarkable depth of flavor and intensity.
