2005 Hartford Court Pinot Noir
Seascape Vineyard, Sonoma Coast
Tasting Notes
Aromas of blackberries, roasted plums and sassafras highlight the 2005 Seascape Vineyard Pinot Noir. An
opulent ‘mouthfeel’ with silky, fine grain tannins, exotic plum and sassafras flavors, along with a very long
finish are highlights of this distinctive cool climate Pinot Noir.

Vineyard Characteristics
Seascape Vineyard sits on a panoramic ridge-top west of the town of Occidental, in the Sonoma Coast
AVA. The vineyard abuts an old redwood grove and faces Bodega Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The
well-known Coastlands Vineyard also borders the property. Because there is no ridge between the ocean and
the vineyard, Seascape lies in an extremely cold spot – so cold that Pinot Noir is often picked here as late as
November. This cold and often foggy coastal climate preserves the natural acidity in the berries helping
delineate the purity of fruit flavors and the expression of the unique coastal terroir in this wine. Balanced
natural acidity also increases the potential for long and graceful aging of Seascape Vineyard Pinot Noir.
Seascape Vineyard is planted primarily to Dijon selections such as 777, 114 and 115 with a smaller amount
of the Swiss Wadsenwill clone. Seascape averages only about one ton-per-acre, which helps to ensure
thorough physiological maturity in this cool and challenging site.
