2016 Hartford Court Fog Dance Vineyard Chardonnay NEW RELEASE
97 Points -
"Coming from the Green Valley region of the Russian River, the 2016 Chardonnay Fog Dance Vineyard was fermented and aged in just 17% new French oak, with the balance all in used barrels. It's an exotic, melon, brioche, and citrus pith-scented effort that has a touch of reduction that lends a beautiful sense of complexity. Rich and powerful on the palate, with medium to full-bodied richness, nicely integrated acidity, and a big finish, it's another wine that has one foot in the Russian River and one foot in Burgundy." - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com, June 2019
The 2016 Fog Dance displays bright aromas of citrus oil, peach pit and orange blossom. The flavors of mandarin orange, white peach and preserved lemon meld together with a mineral-driven finish, reflecting its cool Green Valley terroir.
Vineyard & Vintage Character
The 2016 vintage was another ideal growing season which produced very concentrated wines in the Russian River Valley. The Fog Dance Vineyard Chardonnay is sourced from our estate owned, organically farmed vineyard in the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley AVA. This stunningly beautiful vineyard was planted in 1998 with Dijon Chardonnay clone 96 and ENTAV 809 on Goldridge fine sandy loam—a combination of decomposed sandstone and volcanic ash - and a soil that’s highly prized by winemakers in this region.
The 2015 Fog Dance Vineyard Chardonnay is among our small production, single vineyard wines and is named for the dance performed by the Pacific fog that drifts through the vineyards and back again to the sea each day. This wine reflects its cool Green Valley terroir, showing fresh fruit brightness and amazing transparency along with a refined, mineral-driven texture.
