2015 Hartford Court Fog Dance Vineyard Chardonnay

96 Points -

"The 2015 Chardonnay Fog Dance Vineyard comes from a hillside parcel in the cooler Green Valley portion of the Russian River. Barrel fermented and aged 16 months in 36% new French oak, it offers a huge nose of orange blossom, tangerines, and citrus oil, full body, a crisp, beautifully detailed, delineated texture, good acidity, and a big finish. Drink this elegant yet powerful Russian River Chardonnay over the coming 5-7 years. It’s terrific stuff." - Jeb Dunnuck, June 2018

Tasting Notes

The 2015 Fog Dance displays bright aromas of citrus oil, peach pit and orange blossom. The flavors of mandarin orange, white peach and preserved lemon meld together with a mineral-driven finish, reflecting its cool Green Valley terroir.

Vineyard & Vintage Character

The 2015 vintage was another ideal growing season that produced very concentrated wines in the Russian River Valley. The Fog Dance Vineyard Chardonnay is sourced from our estate owned, organically farmed vineyard in the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley AVA. This stunningly beautiful vineyard was planted in 1998 with Dijon Chardonnay clone 96 and ENTAV 809 on Goldridge fine sandy loam—a combination of decomposed sandstone and volcanic ash, and a soil that’s highly prized by winemakers in this region.

The 2015 Fog Dance Vineyard Chardonnay is among our small production, single vineyard wines and is named for the dance performed by the Pacific fog that drifts through the vineyards and back again to the sea each day. This wine reflects its cool Green Valley terroir, showing fresh fruit brightness and amazing transparency along with a refined, mineral-driven texture.
