2016 Sta. Rita Hills Truly Rita Pinot Noir NEW WINE
93 POINTS -
"Aged 17 months in 26% new French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered, the medium ruby-purple colored 2016 Pinot Noir Truly Rita comes sashaying out of the glass with seriously spicy notions of cinnamon stick, cloves, anise, and black pepper with a core of red currant jelly, kirsch and raspberry preserves plus a waft of wild thyme. Medium-bodied, the palate has lovely restraint with elegant red fruit layers framed by soft tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a mineral note." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, February, 2019
Aromas of wild cherry, crushed violets and a Rooibos tea-like note of earth and spice, complement the notes of salinity and ripe cherry. With polished tannins and a lengthy finish, this very elegant wine shows the beauty of Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir..
Vineyard & Vintage Character
Fruit for our premier release from the Sta. Rita Hills AVA – Truly Rita Pinot Noir – comes from the well-respected Dierberg –
Drum Canyon site. This vineyard is on a steep slope facing the Pacific Ocean and is influenced by the cool ocean breezes everyday. Our blocks are planted to three selections: Swan, Calera and Dijon 115. The well drained and calcium rich soils, combined with the cool climate produces a wine that is very graceful, but with powerful underlying texture.
