2005 Hartford Court Pinot Noir
Jennifer's, Russian River Valley
Tasting Notes
Jennifer’s Pinot Noir is opaque and powerful. It features violets, blackberry and boysenberry in the nose and on the palate. It is ripe, dense and solid with fine tannins and a silky mouth-feel. French oak imparts flavors of white chocolate and roasted coffee to the finish.
Acclaim
92 Points - "From the southern part of the valley, near Sebastopol, comes this young, juicy, crisp Pinot. It's marked by fruit. The freshly crushed flavors of ripe raspberries and cherries are enormously attractive, accented with toasty oak and Asian spices. But the wine has a youthful, acidic tightness that suggests aging. Best now, with decanting, and for six years."
Steve Heimoff, Wine Enthusiast, November 2007
90 Points - "The 2005 Pinot Noir Jennifer’s comes from a vineyard in the well-known Petaluma Wind Gap, which is a funnel for winds coming off the Pacific and churning into the Russian River Valley. It is a very cold area, and the wine reflects that in its hints of sassafras, pomegranate, cherry, and strawberry. The wine is dark ruby, medium-bodied, with zesty acidity, and a heady finish."
Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate, December 2007
Vineyard Characteristics
Named in honor of co-proprietor Jennifer Jackson-Hartford, this wine is defined by its power, concentration of fruit and structure. A wine that is built to age, Jennifer’s proves that not all Pinot Noirs are shy, retiring, delicate souls. Jennifer’s Pinot is sourced from vineyards in the Sebastopol Hills region of the Russian River Valley AVA – smack-in-the-middle of the windy and very cool, Petaluma Wind Gap. The dark color and intense black fruit aroma and flavor profile are a testament to the terroir of this site.
